Being On The Same Page

(Philippians 2:1-4) Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

So...what does being united in one mind have to do with Worship, you ask? Everything. As the worshipers that we have all been called to be, how can we love and respond to God if we are not on the same page with Him? If we don't agree with who He is and with what He's doing then there won't be a thankful heart, just a confused mind searching for answers. Kim Walker couldn't have said it any better, "I want God more than I want the answers." When you get in sync with God then everything else will fall into place because you'll know what to do and how to get about doing it. When you're in order everything you touch will be in order, when you're in love with God everyone around you will become just as love sick as you, when you're making your relationship with God the most important thing everyone around you will be influenced and on fire, and when you seek a Holy Spirit visitation everyone will be engulfed in a down-pour of God's Spirit. When you have that connection between you and God church will start to become what it was meant to be, a place of fellowship where everyone comes already connected and on fire not even needing a Worship Leader to lead them into the presence of God because, like Kim Walker stated, they will have fought all week to maintain that connection. Being in one mind with God is part of our Worship because we're offering our lives in obedience to Him. Being on the same page with God in your day-to-day will just bubble over everyone by the time you get to church. Now, speaking more on the church setting: the key to any amazingly anointed and gifted team or band is unity. Jesus Himself made it clear that there is only one way and He is it. Everything and I mean everything connects because God is the Alpha and the Omega. Everything that God teaches us to do in private is meant for us to be applying in public. That's why He said that all things would work together for our good because they do. When you're in church lifting up your hands the Holy Spirit is teaching you to live a life in surrender and when you're at home reading and getting into the Word God the Holy Spirit is teaching you discipline and self-control for a life of living like Jesus did. One mind. Being on the same page.

What the verse above says is this: If you have received good fruit from being one with Jesus, surrendering your life to Him, then share in Christ's way of living, in which you've seen nothing but good fruit, by being a good example to others so that you can see the same good results. If being on the same page with Jesus has done you more than good then act the same as He did so that you can impact others in the same way. If you're one with God and know what that looks and tastes like then you can establish that same unity everywhere you go so that everyone can be on the same page.

(Psalm 34:8) Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Now in church can you just imagine what would happen if the pastor(s), Worship group, and congregation were in one single mind set, one vision? Anne Hathaway from the Princess Diaries couldn't have said it any better, "Shut-up, shut-up, shut-up!" I mean, wrap your mind around that idea. How much deeper could God takes us and how much more of His heart could we know? Mind-boggling, I know. What is the vision at your church? Do you know? Ask. Ask God to give you His vision and talk to your mentors, family, or friends about it. Start getting to know others who have that same vision and calling so that together you all can start impacting your church, local area, and maybe even the nations. One mind. Those who are in one mind get to move forward. Being scattered with different mindsets might get some people farther west or east but two minds think better than one and together can move forward farther. God has those treasures for us that eyes have not seen and ears have not heard and establishing this principle of unity will get us all there faster than google maps. Be on the same page. I pray that the Lord give us wisdom on how to do this wherever it is that we find ourselves on our walk. The good thing is that being in sync never goes out of season.
