Out In The Garden

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.   —Gertrude Jekyll

“God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.”                          —Martin Luther

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature.”                                  —Anne Frank

Somewhere between then and now I've developed a love for gardening, planting seeds, watching plants grow and become fruitful, and long walks. The Holy Spirit has been teaching me so much about life and how He desires me to live it. He reveals to my heart my Father's heart and has shown me what and how my Father feels. I've always said this and I will continue to stand by it: God wants to do life with us. We are His church and no matter where we go the Holy Spirit of our Lord is there to teach us something fresh and new. As my hands reach for the soil and as my feet place pressure on the shovel my spirit receives a lesson; as I struggle to protect my plants from harmful insects and as I build fortifications around my fruit plants a lesson is learned. The Holy Spirit speaks to us in any language necessary.
