A Little Bit About Me
Hi, I'm "Deya." And before I say anything else I'd like to welcome you to my blog, thanks so much for stopping by. I am a 20 year old young lady who is after God's own heart. I am definitely part of the Joseph generation because I am a dreamer who needs to have a notebook by her side at all times to jot down everything. At home it's just me, my parents, younger sister, my chihuahua/terrier Sofi, my chihuahua/schnauzer Cody, and my two love birds Priscila and Aquila...Love them all so much. I am Hispanic and proud of it. I speak English and Spanish fluently, by God's grace alone. I live in South Texas, (super South actually, so...pretty much the tippy tip bottom) born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.

My Beliefs
One oober important detail that you should know about me is that I am a Christian. What does that mean exactly? I'm sure that there are tons of definitions for what that means but the way God has revealed it to me is that I am a follower of Christ and a lover of God, who relies on the Holy Spirit's guidance.  I believe in leaving a trail of God's love everywhere I go and through everything that I do. I don't follow a religion, but rather a true relationship directly with the Father through Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he came to save me so that I could have eternal life. I believe that the Holy Spirit is here among us just as Jesus said. With every fiber of my being, I believe in The Word of God. I also know and believe that God's promises hold true from everlasting to everlasting.

What I Love
I am passionate about Worshiping (Romans 12:2) my God and I aim to glorify Him through all that I do because true worship is a life offering. Whether it's singing, gardening, painting, drawing, writing, blogging, crafting, headband making, or writing music, to me it's just all about making His name known. I love eating healthy and cooking up something new. I love rainy days and stormy nights. I love journaling so I have a large collection of journals in my bookshelf. Blank paper has always been my weakness. Out of all of the things that I love, experiencing God's presence...now that is what I live for. Whether I'm reading my Bible, praying, leading worship at church, or just walking to class I view life as an opportunity to be one with God in a world that I don't belong to but that I form a part of. Him and I do life together. Separate from God I never want to be.

(Psalm 84:1-2) How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lordmy heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

My schooling
I am a Junior at the University of Texas-Pan American. I really love school so much, it's awesome! I graduated high school early by the grace of God and right now I'm majoring in Rehabilitation with a concentration in Addiction Studies. My life has just been a huge process in the making with God molding me into who He wants me to be and I wouldn't want it any other way. God took me through two years of Psalmist School to not just learn about singing but about perseverance, leading, true worship, service, and ministry. No matter how much I learn though, I give all the credit to my Lord and Savior who has been my ultimate teacher. The Holy Spirit has always been by my side teaching me how and what to study, and revealing to me the deepest treasures in my Father's heart. I'd follow my God not just to the moon and back, but straight up to heaven: anywhere and everywhere.

Why I Started Blogging Then and Now
When I first entered college, my first year English teacher had the whole class start a student-led blog to post our writing assignments on. Somewhere toward the middle of that I just fell in love with the possibility of starting my own blog and getting to really write about something that mattered to me. Of course, my first thought was, "What matters to me?" Then, came endless brainstorming. I thought, I want to create a space that houses the love of God in so many ways: what He's done for me, what He continues to do, and everything in between.  And from there came my first blog "The Psalmist Journal". I wanted to express my feelings in a way that would encourage others along their daily walk with God, sharing a little bit of advice through each season. It all started there. About one year later a passion inside of me grew to share on a deeper level what The Lord has revealed to me about worship. I then created my second blog "Worship Blossoms In The Garden," which centered around teachings, advice, and articles pertaining to a breakdown of true worship and it's intricate branches and expressions. As time passed it just became harder to keep up with both of my blogs which I loved so I decided to merge both of my blogs and create: "The Psalmist And Her Garden."

What My Blog Is About
It's all about glorifying my God. I created this blog with the intention that anybody could just come, kick back and relax, and then leave encouraged to fight the good fight after reading . I hope to inspire others to think outside the box when it comes to their relationship with God. It's a little bit of me with a lot a bit of Him. I've learned so much through the experiences that God has permitted me to encounter so the point of my blog is just wanting to share with others my day-to-day living. It's in my daily living that God's love and power is manifested. These moments are my living testimony of my living God. Here, you'll look into the life of a young lady who has a passion for pursuing her sweet Jesus who had spent so long pursuing her. It's my turn to live like He did. The Psalmist And Her Garden is about me sharing those intimate moments that I spend with The Lord as he walks through my heart's garden: What He teaches and reveals to me. Because I am a psalmist not just through the music that I compose but through the life that I live I want so much for my blog to reflect that, to capture that. By my Lord's grace I am here and in awe of Him. Though there are ups and downs I rest in knowing that my God is unshakable and unchangeable. I really write about my changing seasons, worship, and anything that I find helpful and inspiring. The Holy Spirit is doing, as always, some amazing things! He walks right beside me each and every day and never ceases to amaze me. Those moments of course I just have to write about because the days that I spend in His courts always offer me a lesson to be learned. If you come to know me it'll put a big smiley on my face, but if you come to know God in all that He really is through me, then my purpose will have been completed. I want my lifesong to touch God's heart when I meet Him face to face so that He can just tell me that He can't get my tune out of His head. That's what it's all about.

Question
If your life is a song that others need to hear and that one day God will hear, then what does yours say about you?

  1. Hi, Deyanira (beautiful name - what does it mean?). Thanks so much for the lovely comment you left on my blog. It is so nice to "meet" other Christian young women bloggers with a heart for service and worship. Many blessings as you pursue your degree. What a neat major and powerful place to serve! I graduated with a degree in criminal justice, so I know what it is like to carry the light of Christ into such dark and needy areas. Keep seeking the Lord and His will for your life (Psalm 16:11).

    Blessings,
    Kate

Hi Kate! Thanks so much for stopping by and plus for the sweet compliment! Though I love my name, sadly, lol it means "husband slayer". Super akward for my future husband lol so yeah. Checked that a few years back and decided to baptize it with a new meaning ever since. :) My mom named me after after a friend of hers because she thought it was ptrety. Redifining it for sure! You studied criminal justice, that's awesome! Yeah you definately get me. I really do love my field and super great "meeting" ;) someone who I share so much in common with. Definately rewarding to take Jesus into those places where others maybe cannot go. Thank you for the Psalm, definately desperate for his guidance and joy. Can't wait to keep reading your blog!
Have a Good one & God bless!
